Nostalgia Day at Oxford MINI Factory – 100 years of car making – oxford

 28th March 2013, marked the centenary of car building at the Morris factory at Cowley near Oxford.

Now, of course, it’s ‘MINI Plant, Oxford’, producing 275,000 MINIs a year, 220,000 of which are exported via the plant’s own rail terminal.

MINI celebrates century of Oxford car production

MINI will be celebrating a centenary of car production at its factory in Oxford. Parent company BMW may call the factory ‘Plant Oxford’, but most car enthusiasts still refer to it as Cowley – the site that the first Bull Nosed Morris in 1913.

Hertz launches Electric Vehicle car club in Oxford


Hertz, the car rental company, is setting up a car sharing club in Oxford that will only offer electric vehicles. This probably makes a lot more sense for most people than buying an electric car.  Members of the car club can rent the Nissan Leafs by the hour for as little as £5 and can recharge them at any one of 32 charging points round the city (due to expand to 60 charging points soon).
