Kia announces plans for $1 billion auto plant in Mexico

Kia Motors will open a $1 billion auto plant in northern Mexico in 2016, with the capacity to build 300,000 vehicles annually, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto announced Wednesday.
Kia begins export production of Kia Soul EV
Kia Motors has begun volume production of its new all-electric Kia Soul EV for export sales at its Kia’s Gwangju facility in Korea. The first vehicles are destined for select European countries and are scheduled to go on sale across the continent during the second half of the year. Annual output of the electric car is initially planned to reach 5,000 units.
Kia recalls Sportage and Soul models
Kia is recalling 5787 Sportage and 1432 Soul models because of a potential fault with the seat-belt pre-tensioner.
