Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to invest about 2.36 billion zlotys ($773 million) to upgrade its factory in southern Poland where it plans to start the production of a new Fiat model, the Polish government said.

Fiat will invest 2.36 billion zlotys ($784 million) to upgrade its factory in Tychy, Poland, to build the replacement for the Punto subcompact (Punto above), a report said.

Fiat brand will renew its product lineup in Europe with replacements for its aging Punto subcompact and Bravo compact models but has no growth ambitions in the region as Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne targets a return to profitability ahead of increased volume.

Fiat Group plans to begin making Jeeps in China by late 2015 after reaching an agreement with local partner Guangzhou Automobile Group.
