Pininfarina exhibition in London

Pininfarina, the designers of the vast majority of Ferraris ever built, will be the subject of an exhibition in London this summer. The exhibition will take place at the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrave Square, and is open to the public from 22 June to 15 July 2012 with free admission. Pininfarina is best known, of course, for cars, but the company has designed many other products as well, from coffee makers (pretty well mandatory for an Italian designer) to furniture and even the torch for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.

World record Ferrari parade at Silverstone

Ferrari is planning to break the world record for a parade of its models, which currently stands at 490.The plan is to get 1,000 Ferraris together at 18:00 on Saturday 15th September during Ferrari Racing Days at Silverstone Circuit. So far 600 owners have signed up, so the hunt is on for 400 more.

Ferrari Racing Days is the only motor racing event in the UK where Ferrari fans will see the ultra-exclusive FXX and 599XX development cars on track, plus a wide range of historic Ferrari F1 cars from the F1 Clienti department, together with a schedule of races from the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli and the Ferrari Club Challenge. There should also be a great turnout of Ferrari’s rarest models, such as the F40.

Ferrari holding auction for Italian earthquake victims

Ferrari has announced it’ll be holding an online auction to raise money for victims of the two earthquakes in Northern Italy in May. All the proceeds of the auction will go to the families of those killed in the quakes, which affected the Emilia-Romagna region.Ferrari has lined up some extremely alluring items for the sale, including a 599XX Evo, whose value is around £1,000,000, and a V8 engine from a Ferrari F1 car.

Eric Clapton’s Custom Made Ferrari

When you’re Eric Clapton, it’s not just Fender you can ring up and have make you something with your name on it- Ferrari will take the call, too. So here we have the Ferrari SP12 EC, a one-off made especially for the former Cream axeman, based on the 458 Italia.Clapton has been a Ferrari person for decades, and in particular a fan of the 512 BB, of which he’s owned three. So, although his car is based on the 458 Italia, its styling is inspired by the 512 BB.

It’s the work of Pininfarina and the Centro Stile Ferrari, with Clapton guiding the process.

Ferrari in worldwide supercar recall

Ferrari  has been forced to order a worldwide recall of two of its models due to a mechanical problem. Yes, a massive…erm…16 cars in the UK are affected. Oh. The recall affects the 458 Italia and the California – 206 cars worldwide, specifically, of a total of 13,000 built. It relates to the crankshaft, which has been incorrectly manufactured and fitted. The excessive vibration it causes could, says Ferrari, damage the engine.
