Tesla is fighting different states to be able to sell directly to consumers, but a group of officials from the Federal Trade Commission said removing those regulatory roadblocks would open new shopping options for consumers that are available in other industries.
The Federal Trade Commission is investigating whether dealers colluded to hurt TrueCar Inc. in 2011 and 2012 over vehicle price competition fostered by the online shopping site.
Scott Painter: “I want to make this clear: We didn’t ask for it (the investigation), and we knew nothing about it.”
