ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Belgium, a division of ExxonMobil Petroleum & Chemical B.V.B.A., plans to invest more than $1 billion to install a new delayed coker unit at its Antwerp refinery to convert heavy, higher sulfur residual oils into transportation fuels products such as marine gasoil and diesel fuel.

Diesel to surpass natural gas as #1 fuel by 2020

Diesel is going to remain the “dominant” growth fuel in transportation on earth for several decades to come, according to U.S. and international energy and transportation experts.

ExxonMobil estimates that diesel will surpassĀ  natural gas as the number one global transportation fuel by 2020. Diesel demand will account for 70 percent of the growth in demand for all transportation fuels through the forecast period to 2040.
