Ford scores highly in latest Euro NCAP tests
Ford has scored better than any other manufacturer in the latest round of Euro NCAP tests, with three ‘best in class’ awards.
Automatic braking systems (AEB) set to become standard
Automatic braking systems (AEB) on cars will become more and more prevalent after the crash test organisation Euro NCAP announced it will make the technologies part of its car safety star rating from 2014. It is also calling for European authorities to make AEB mandatory on all new vehicle types.The move is intended to encourage the public to choose AEB when buying a new car to “improve their safety, make a real difference and help them avoid or mitigate a crash,” said Euro NCAP.
Latest NCAP safety scores released
The safety organisation Euro NCAP has released the test results for the BMW 3 Series, Hyundai i30,Mazda CX-5 and Peugeot 208.All four achieved a top 5 star score, although there were some differences between them. Euro NCAP said that, “car makers are rising to Euro NCAP’s challenging 2012 5 star requirements, especially in the area of pedestrian protection where the thresholds have been significantly increased this year.”
