Continental is unable to complete its acquisition of U.S. rubber firm Veyance Technologies and may need to sell one of the target company’s divisions to win U.S. regulatory approval, Germany’s Bilanz magazine reported.

Continental has developed an Electric Parking Brake (EPB) for drum brakes. It is especially tailored to the lower-priced automotive segment that, up until now, has had to make do with mechanical parking brakes built into the existing drum brake on the rear axle. The electric parking drum brake will go into serial production by 2017.

Continental’s powertrain developers have launched series production of the first car turbocharger with an aluminium turbine housing. Integration of the unit in the three-cylinder, 1.5L 100 kW petrol engine for the MINI Hatch has been ongoing since spring 2014.
