Chevrolet unveils Trax small SUV

Clearly today is SUV bandwagon day. Chevrolet has released images of its new Trax small SUV, which will share its platform with the Vauxhall Mokka.

And guess what? Chevrolet claims to have invented the SUV, with the Suburban Carryall in 1935 – despite the fact that the Suburban did not get a 4wd option until the 1950s and, anyway, the Chevrolet Trax comes from the old Daewoo operation in Korea.

Chevrolet delighted with Man United deal – then sacks the man who signed it

Chevrolet’s press release about becoming only the fifth shirt sponsor of the club in its history was sugar and spice and all things nice. Strange then, the General Motors, Chevrolet’s parent company sacked its head of Marketing, Joel Ewanick, at almost the same time, with a curt statement which read, “He failed to meet the expectations that the company has for its employees”.

Liverpool FC gets Chevy sponsorship

It seems like only yesterday the football season finished, but with it starting again in less than a month, Chevrolet has made the timely announcement that it will become Liverpool Football Club’s official automotive partner for the next four years. The GM-owned brand’s partnership with Liverpool FC runs until the end of the 2015/16 Premier League and European campaigns and includes visibility for the brand at Anfield, Liverpool’s home ground, editorial opportunities within the club’s print and digital publications and fan sites and player appearances for commercial opportunities.

Over-sized, over-engined and over here – new Camaro arrives

Chevrolet is putting the new Camaro muscle car on sale officially in Europe. Like its arch-rival the Ford Mustang, the current Camaro is a modern restyling of the 1960s original. Just like the Mustang, the Camaro got steadily uglier through the 1970s and 1980s, so the back-to-basics design is much to be welcomed.

The specification is pure Americana: 6.2 litre V8, 426 bhp (manual transmision only), 155 mph, 0-62 mph in 5.2 seconds, £35,025. Chevrolet says the suspension has been specifically set up for European conditions – that would be for corners, then. It also benefits from 20 inch Pirelli P Zero tyres and Brembo brakes, so it is a long way ahead of the 1960s original, which came with crossply tyres and no discernible brakes of any description.
