As an accompaniment to the market launch of the A3 e tron plug-in hybrid, Audi is offering customers in Germany green electricity: Audi energy. The cooperating partner is the Hamburg energy provider LichtBlick SE. With Audi energy, the A3 e tron is totally emission-free when operated electrically.

Bentley will build W12 engines for Audi, VW

Bentley will build Volkswagen Group’s W12 engines for sister brands Volkswagen and Audi starting next year, creating about 100 jobs for its England factory and ending production of the engines in Germany.

Bentley, which was bought by VW in 1998, will make its factory in Crewe, northwest England, a ”center of excellence” for W12 engines, which are used in Bentley models, Audi’s flagship A8 sedan and the VW Phaeton.

Audi, MIT, GE launch HubCab Project in New York City

MIT, in partnership with Audi and GE, has launched HubCab—a transportation tracking tool aimed at reducing commuting congestion, decreasing vehicle emissions and lowering the cost of mobility infrastructure.

HubCab tracks more than 150 million taxi rides in New York City over the course of a year. With this information, researchers can identify commuter travel patterns and work to develop a more efficient car share system.
