American Trucking Associations said the safety recommendations by the National Transportation Safety Board emphasize the need for the Obama Administration to accelerate efforts to mandate electronic logging devices in commercial trucks and to improve its Compliance, Safety, Accountability fleet safety monitoring and measurement system.

ATA refutes misleading and reckless reporting ‘study’ of trucker drug and alcohol use

American Trucking Associations leaders called on U.S. media outlets to stop their inaccurate and sensationalized reporting on a so-called ‘study’ claiming that a number of commercial truck drivers use drugs or alcohol while behind the wheel.

The ‘study’ which has been cited by several news outlets, was conducted by the Universidade Estadual de Londrina in Brazil.
