Sebastien Loeb and Peugeot seek Goodwood hillclimb record
Sebastien Loeb, who has won a record nine World Rally titles and 78 individual rally wins, will drive the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak car up the iconic 1.16-mile in late June as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Current record is 41.6 seconds and belongs to Nick Heidfeld’s since 1999.
Loeb will also drive a Citroen, for whom he is competing in this year’s World Touring Car Championship.
Can he do it? Very likely yes as last year he set a new record time of 8:13.878 at Pikes Peak Hill Climb with the same monstrous 208 T16 Pikes Peak race car packing 875 horsepower.
His average speed was 87.471mph on the 12.42 mile course that has 156 corners. He was also the first to finish the legendary race in less than nine minutes, so our guess is he will do the Goodwood hillclimb in less than 40 seconds.
