Renault Sport teases a mysterious new model with a sub 8-minute Nürburgring lap time

Porsche 918 Spyder is the quickest car with global road homologation to lap the 12.8 mile Nürburgring Nordschleife in just six minutes and 57 seconds.
There’s another category that involves front-wheel-drive production vehicles.
SEAT recently set a new record for front-wheel drive cars on the Nürburgring with lap time of 7:58.4 in the Leon Cupra 280, driven by touring car champion Jordi Gene, who managed an average speed of 96.3mph, while hitting 150.4mph in the Tiergarten area.
Before SEAT’s hot lap in the new Leon Cupra 280, the record belonged to Renault since 2011, ehen Megane Trophy set a new record with a time of 8:07.9.
Looks like Renault Sport is working on a new hot front-wheel drive hatch as they have posted the above image on their Facebook page, which clearly suggests the new car will lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in under 8 minutes, featuring Akrapovic exhaust system, an Ohlins suspension and Michelin tyres.
Honda is also busy developing their new Civic Type-R with one of the goals to be the fastest front-wheel drive cars around the ‘Ring.
