Sales of Porsche sports cars and crossovers increased 8 percent to 87,800 vehicles in the first half, powered by rising demand for the face-lifted Panamera sedan and healthy gains in Europe.

Bernhard Maier, Porsche’s head of sales and marketing, said the brand expects the growth to continue in the coming months as the Macan compact SUV is rolled out globally.

“In the second half of the year, we will keep our foot on the accelerator with the worldwide launch of the Macan and other model innovations,” Maier said in a statement.

Porsche’s first-half sales in Europe jumped 14 percent to nearly 30,000 cars, mainly due to a rebound in demand from markets outside of Germany, where volumes increased by 7.5 percent.

In the United States, Porsche sales rose 8 percent to 22,919 vehicles through June. China sales were also up 8 percent, to 19,785.

Porsche said 13,500 Panameras were delivered to customers, a rise of 28 percent, with almost one in ten customers opting for the plug-in hybrid version.

The Cayenne SUV remained the brand’s best seller, with 37,200 units delivered through June, followed by 15,615 sales of its 911 sports car line.

Porsche’s global sales rose 14 percent to 16,325 in June, boosted by 30 percent growth in Europe, an 11 percent increase in the United States. Sales in China were flat during the month at 1 percent.
