Porsche 918 Spyder Laps The Nürburgring in 7:14

One of the development goals of the Porsche 918 Spyder was a lap time of less than seven minutes 22 seconds.

Recently the 918 Spyder lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 14 seconds, beating the set goal by 8 seconds. Porsche did not mention the tenths of seconds so we don’t know yet is it faster than the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package (7:14:64) or Donkenvoort D8 RS (7:14:89).

With 7:14, the 918 Spyder is the fastest Porsche on the ‘Ring, beating the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by 4 seconds.

There are still couple of cars, that are faster around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Dodge Viper ACR (7:12:13), Gumper Apollo Sport (7:11:57) and the extreme Radical SR8 (6:55) and SR8 LM (6:48).

The 918 Spyder is powered by a 570bhp 4.6 litre V8 engine mated to electric motors that has a total output of 770bhp. 0-62mph comes in less than 3.0 seconds and the top speed is over 200mph (over 90mph on purely electric mode).
