November car sales Spain Rises,France falls

Spanish new-car sales jumped 15 percent in November from a year earlier, car manufacturers’ association Anfac said on Monday.
This represented the third straight month of rising sales which have been boosted by scrappage subsidies. Anfac said 55,450 new cars were registered last month. Sales rose 34 percent year-on-year in October.
In the first 11 months, sales rose 2 percent to 662,188, Anfac said. The association said it expected sales to rise to about 720,000 for the whole year.
French new-car sales fell 4 percent in November due to fewer business days and weak demand, particularly for foreign car brands, France’s CCFA auto industry association said.
Registrations declined to 138,298 cars last month after rises in October and September, bringing the decline year-to-date to 7 percent, the CCFA said in a statement today.
Sales of PSA/Peugeot-Citroen vehicles rose 5 percent last month, while Renault deliveries rose 4 percent. The French carmakers continued to fare better than their foreign competitors, who saw car sales drop by 13 percent in the month.
A CCFA spokesman said the association maintained its prediction for a 6 percent drop in annual car registrations this year
