New BMW badges increases confusion
If you thought the current BMW naming strategy was confusing, look away now.
But it’s not a 1.4-litre engine under the bonnet – it’s a 1.6-litre.
Why has the maker done it? Well, according to a spokeswoman, that’s now the plan.”Names that follow engine sizes are no longer the trend at BMW,” she said. “We now use badges which denote where that model sits in the range. So the 114d is the lowest powered, so gets the smallest badge.”
