‘Last’ S2 E-type roadster heads July 30th Sale

Along with the the Fixed Head Coupe and the 2 + 2, the E-type 4.2, the Roadster received some significant changes during 1968.

Early 1968 cars gained exposed headlamps (the sleek Perspex covers no longer met Federal safety standards), a collapsible steering column and a revised facia which incorporated safety “rocker” switches. These cars became known as Series 11/2 but towards the end of 1968 the E-type Roadster gained full Series II billing.

The Series II added larger bumpers and different, larger front side/flasher and tail/stop/flasher lamps to meet further U.S. safety legislation. Mechanically the Series II Roadster gained electric fans, but otherwise remained unchanged from the Series I 4.2 litre model.

The E-type Jaguar to be offered here is thought to be the last Series 2 Roadster to leave Browns Lane in 1971. Originally supplied, to its only registered keeper, direct from Jaguar Cars, the car has been “Barn Stored” since 1976 and will be offered complete and ripe for restoration.

During the its active life, the car was always serviced at Jaguar Cars, Browns Lane and overseen by the service manager, a Mr. Norbury.

The car is said to be complete, even down to the original tool kit and is ripe for restoration. It is said to have covered a warranted, 55,000 miles from new.
