Jenson Button drives McLaren P1 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
July 17, 2013
John E.
McLaren’s Formula One driver Jenson Button drove the P1 supercar prototype earlier this year as part of the launch event for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes 2013 Formula 1 challenger, the MP4-28.
This past weekend Jenson Button spent little more time with the P1 as he raced it up the famous hill climb with a time of 53 seconds.
The car Mr. Button drove was a full black production spec P1 featuring a 627bhp twin-turbo 3.8-litre V8 engine and a 176bhp electric motor. Combined power output is 903bhp and 663 lb-ft of torque, good for a 0-62mph spring in less than three seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).
Priced from £866,000, the P1 production will be limited to just 375 units.
