Jay Leno takes a closer look at the Toyota FT-1 concept
Toyota FT-1 concept was one of the biggest surprises at the North American International Auto Show in January and since then there have been many speculations, that is previews a new Supra.
The FT-1 concept was built by Toyota’s California-based Calty design studio, as part if its 40th anniversary this year.
Combining design elements from Toyota’s rich sports car history, like the 2000GT of the mid-1960s with its wraparound windscreen and side glass arrangement, along with curvilinear body, sharply defined contrasts, large air intakes, exhaust ports and retractable rear wing, the FT-1 is the car many enthusiasts would love to see in production.
Recently this hot front engine/rear-wheel drive concept rolled into Jay Leno’s Garage, where the former host of The Tonight Show talked to chief designer Alex Shen from Toyota’s CALTY Design Research.
