Ford Recalls 100,566 Vehicles Over Safety Defects
By Shirley Li
Ford issued six recalls today of 100,566 vehicles in North America for safety defects, adding to this year’s ever-increasing list of auto recalls.
The announcement comes on the heels of the General Motors debacle, in which the company recalled millions of vehicles over a decade-old safety issue.
The largest recall covers 92,022 vehicles that include an improperly installed right-hand halfshaft. The models affected are as follows:
- Taurus — 2013-2014
- Flex — 2013-2014
- Interceptor — 2013-2014
- Lincoln MKT, Lincoln MKS — 2013-2014
- Edge — 2012-2014
- Lincoln MKX — 2014
The second largest recall covers 5,264 2011-2014 Ford F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles, which uses electrical systems that could short-circuit and catch fire.
Also recalled are 2,124 2014 Ford Escape vehicles for their faulty glass roofs, 600 Ford F52 Motorhome Stripped Chassis and F59 Commercial Stripped Chassis vehicles for defective brakes, and 200 2014 Ford Fiesta compact cars for leaky fuel tanks.
No injuries have been reported related to the defects, according to a Ford spokeswoman.
