Ferrari 458 Speciale hits the track
Following its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Ferrari has released a new promotional video of 458 Speciale.
The 458 Speciale is designed to be the ultimate 458 and features aerodynamic updates which include a new front bumper, revised side skirts, larger rear spoiler, new aggressive rear diffuser with two separate exhaust tips, instead of three centre-mounted exhaust tips in the standard 458.
There are also front “turning vanes,” a larger rear spoiler and active aerodynamic flaps that open and close depending on the car’s speed.
Another highlight is an innovative Side Slip angle Control system (SSC) which makes it easier to achieve car control on the limit, thereby greatly improving driving emotions.
Power comes from a 596bhp 4.5-litre V8 (up from 562bhp) and 540 Nm of torque, making it company’s most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 engine ever, and with 135 horsepower per litre it is also the highest figure in a road-going naturally-aspirated engine ever.
Dry weight is 1,290 kg and 0-62 mph comes in 3.0 seconds, 0-124mph in 9.1 seconds and the lap around Ferrari’s Fiorano track takes 1m 23.5s.
