Former Morgan Motor Managing Director Charles Morgan says he will fight his ouster from a management role at the company that bears his family name.

The UK niche carmaker said in a statement that Morgan “is no longer part of the management team or board of directors of the company.”

Morgan, who is 62, stated: “I am appealing the decision.”

Neither he nor the automaker would discuss details of his ouster.

Morgan stepped down as the carmaker’s managing director in March but continued to work for the company in a brand promotion role.

A company spokeswoman said that had now finished. “He is no longer involved in the running of the business,” she said.

The Morgan family remain 100 percent shareholders of the automaker, the spokeswoman added.

Charles Morgan is is the grandson of Henry Morgan who founded the sports car maker in 1910.

The company won a following among car enthusiasts for its hand-built sports cars made with a wooden body substructure. It recently diversified to offer cars such as the Aero 8 built on a aluminium chassis.

The company said it will build 1,150 cars this year, up from 1,122 last year.
