Donkervoort D8 GTO Bilster Berg Edition unveiled, limited to 14 units

Legendary Lotus Seven is one of the most recognisable cars ever produced. The Seven still lives on mainly through Caterham in very different performance specs. There are also countless of small niche players who have something similar in production based on the original Seven.

Based in Holland, Donkervoort is a small automaker based in Holland, which builds a hardcore model called D8 GTO. Clearly based on the Seven, but in more modern and sharper package, the D8 GTO uses an Audi RS3 sourced 2.5-litre turbocharged inline-five tuned to 380bhp, taking the lightweight car from 0-60mph in just 2.8 seconds.

Donkervoort also has a garage at Blister Berg private track complex where it managed to set the lap record, leaving behind many high-end supercars.

To celebrate this, Donkevoort has unveiled a special version of the D8 GTO called the Bilster Berg Edition.

Compared to the standard D8 GTO the special edition has a new front-end design in darkened and clad carbon fibre a retuned suspension with Intrax shocks, new beefier anti-roll bars and semi-slick Hankook tyres. It is also around 10kg lighter than the standard model thanks to lightweight carpets and carbon-fibre bucket seats.

The model is all about track days as it comes standard with Performance Plus package and data logger on the dashboard.

Just 14 cars will be built prices set at €194,000 (£152k).
