Ford hopes to get a fresh start and erase bad memories for some owners when it launches the new version of its in-car, interactive touch-screen system next fall.

At a special event in Paris on Thursday, the French carmaker gave the motoring press a glimpse of its road map for a low fuel consumption, low emissions future as well as showcasing one or two innovations that will be coming to its road cars as soon as next year.
Total US sales of plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs)—battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric—have increased in recent years, but still represent only about 0.7% of new vehicle sales in 2014 so far, up from 0.6% in 2013 and 0.4% in 2012.
