Audi has announced the R8 China Edition, which as the name already suggests will be offered exclusively in the People’s Republic of China.

The R8 China Edition comes in Malibu Blue or Suzuka Grey, with contrasting side blades, a carbon fibre rear wing and gloss black 19-inch alloys.

Interior boasts leather/Alcantara seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, body colour accents and a serial number aluminum gear knob which will skip all numbers with the number four in them to respect the cultural habit of Chinese customers. The number is considered an unlucky number in Chinese because it is nearly homophonous to the word “death”.

Under the bonnet is a 525bhp 5.2-litre V10 with 530 Nm of torque mated to an R tronic transmission and a quattro all-wheel drive system, enabling the R8 accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds.

Audi will limit the R8 China Edition to 80 units.
