best-selling UK car of all time: Ford Fiesta

Ford Fiesta has been one of the best selling vehicles in UK for years and since 2009 has been the top selling car. As of this month, the Fiesta is also the best-selling vehicle ever in the UK, exceeding 4,115,00 sales since 1976.
The Fiesta overtakes the Ford Escort, which had a total of 4,105,961 registrations. The Escort was on sake in the UK for 32 years from 1968-2000.
The Fiesta has evolved greatly over the years. In comparison the first-generation Fiesta, powered by a 46bhp four-cylinder 950cc petrol engine, weighed around 800kg and achieved 37.7mpg, with CO2 emissions of around 150g/km.
The current generation fully-equipped model, with the 98bhp 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine, weighs nearly 1,100kg, and has an average fuel economy of 65.7mpg and just 99g/km CO2 emissions.
Today the most popular Ford Fiesta is the Zetec trim, priced at £12,945, featuring MyKey (limiting vehicle speed and audio volume for novice drivers), radio/CD with USB connection, remote central locking, electrically operated front windows, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, air conditioning, Hill Launch Assist, seven airbags, Electronic Stability Programme and headlight courtesy delay.
