Jaguar to build six brand new “1963? Lightweight E-Types
Jaguar E-Type is considered one of the most beautiful cars ever created. It has topped many lists and examples in mint condition are highly sought after.
One of the most exclusive models was a 1963 Lightweight E-Type, that was planned as a very small series of just 18 units.
Jaguar managed to build only 12 cars of the planned 18, with the last one assembled in 1964.
Rest of the six chassis numbers were never used and now Jaguar’s recreation project will finish the remaining six units, all to be hand-built to the exact specifications to the original model.
The Lightweight E-Type was 114kg lighter than the standard model, thanks to an aluminium engine block and body panels.
The interior was stripped and there was no chrome trim on the exterior.
Power will come to the original straight-six 3.8-litre petrol engine with first car to be shown sometimes this summer.
Pricing details are not known, but this is definitely the most expensive production Jaguar one can buy today. If you are interested then contact Jaguar for more details, but remember established Jaguar collectors, especially those with historic race car interests, will be prioritised amongst those potential customers who express interest.
