Production version of the Volkswagen Golf R 400

Volkswagen Golf R 400 concept made its debut last month at the Beijing Motor Show and the feedback was very positive. A hot hatch with 395bhp sounds quite extreme, but also something that many of us would love to see in production.
Then few days later VW research and development chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser told “It’s going to be built.”
The Golf R 400 concept is powered by a 395bhp 2.0-litre turbo-four cylinder with power sent to the 4Motion all-wheel drive via six-speed dual-clutch gearbox, taking it from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 180mph.
Usually production cars are toned down both visually and performance wise, but the Golf R 400 looks to be a different case as Car and Driver reports that, Volkswagen R&D chief Heinz-Jakob Neusser has commented that the production version of the Golf R 400 could actually produce more than the 395bhp.
How much more is not known, but a 400+bhp Volkswagen Golf sounds very interesting. This car could smoke standard Porsche 911s on the Autobahn easily.
