BMW i8 breaks down during testing on the Nürburgring
The BMW i8 has been in the development for quite some time. Last time we saw it testing was back in February, when it got stuck in heavy snow during cold weather testing near the Arctic Circle.
The testing continues and recently the i8 was caught on the Nürburgring doing some hot laps.
What is suprising is the sound of the 1.5 litre three-cylinder turbo petrol with 231bhp and 320Nm of torque, working together with a hybrid synchronous electric motor producing another 131bhp and 250Nm of torque. For a three-cylinder turbo petrol it sounds quite angry and sporty.
All was going good until the car broke down and rolled by the videographer really slowly and pulled over at the side of the track.
We don’t know what happened, but according to the man behind the camera, there was likely a problem with the brakes, since the driver was constantly using the brake pedal while being stationary. After about 15 minutes he drove off really slowly and was later driving around the village of Nürburg again.
