making Koenigsegg carbon fibre wheels for the One:1 megacar
Inside Koenigsegg Series is back with a new episode, taking a closer look at how this Swedish supercar maker creates the lightweight carbon fibre wheels for the Agera One:1 megacar.
Founder Christian von Koenigsegg shows us how wheels are made by stacking pre-preg carbon fibre sheets on a wheel negative to create the outer surface of the wheel.
The wheels for the One:1 are extremely lightweight, but also much stronger, compared to forged aluminium wheels.
Christan Von Koenigsegg also comments “We’re the world’s first car manufacture to make carbon fibre wheels, and it’s the most important area of the car to have really lightweight because its rotational unsprung mass.”
The Agera One:1 packs 1340 metric horsepower (1322bhp) from a twin-turbo 5.0-litre V8 inked to a dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox and an electronic differential, while weighing 1,340kg. With that much power and a 1:1 (One:1) power to curb weight ratio it is the world’s first “Megacar.”
The One:1 has an estimated top speed of more than 273mph (440 km/h) and just six cars will be built.
