Earlier this week Land Rover unveiled a Discovery Vision concept, previewing a new Discovery family, as well future Terrain Response system with Remote Control Drive, Laser Terrain Scanning and Transparent Bonnet head-up display.

Land Rover has now confirmed the first new Discovery family model will be called Discovery Sport, taking cues and features from the Discovery Vision Concept.

Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Design Director and Chief Creative Officer, confirmed the Discovery Sport nameplate at the New York Auto Show and that it will go on sale in 2015.

He also added: “This will be the most versatile and capable SUV in its segment and is the first expression of the Discovery Vision Concept unveiled here in New York.”
