Citroen is taking the Chinese market very seriously and has unveiled the hot DS 5LS R concept car, ahead of its debut later this month at the Beijing Motor Show.

Based on the China only DS 5LS, the concept features a bold and luxury design, combined with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine that develops 300bhp and torque of 400 Nm. 300bhp from a 1.6-litre turbo is very impressive.

Compared to the standard model, the chassis has been lowered by 15mm, and it also has wider front tracks and a sequential gearbox, controlled by paddles behind the steering wheel. Engineers also tweaked the brakes and suspension.

The cabin is updated with fine leather and Alcantara, along with new performance seats and carbon fibre inserts on the steering wheel, door panels and door handles.

The exterior is highlighted with extensive use of real carbon fibre components. Finished in a Carmine Red exterior paint, the DS 5LS R rides on carbon-coloured 20-inch alloy wheels.
