Track Battle: Audi RS 6 Avant vs Vauxhall VXR8 Supercharged
High-performance estate cars are one way to grow older and still drive a sports car, while easily taking your family and weekend gear with you.
Evo magazine has put together two hot estate cars, to see which one is faster around a track.
The Audi RS 6 Avant with 552bhp 4.0-litre TFSI is an amazing vehicle with power sent to quattro all-wheel drive and there aren’t many estate cars on the market with more power. One of these is a Vauxhall VXR8 Supercharged that in stock condition packs 576bhp from a 6.2-litre supercharged LSA V8.
The RS 6 Avant is a technological masterpiece with automatic gearbox, quattro all-wheel drive and different assist features, keeping the car tight on the road.
The VXR8 is however a whole different story. Cheaper materials, rear-wheel drive and manual gearbox.
If you want to be practical then the RS 6 Avant is your best pick as it will be faster, more luxurious and a much better daily driver. On the other hand if you want to have simple fun with a manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive and close to 600bhp, then the VXR8 is the way to go.
