Mazda Hazumi concept previews next-generation Mazda2
March 07, 2014
John E.
Mazda has unveiled the Hazumi concept at the Geneva Motor Show, previewing the next-generation Mazda2.
The Hazumi concept is the latest Mazda to use KODO design language with distinctive, sporty and bold exterior styling. The concept also comes with SKYACTIV Technology, Mazda Proactive Safety, and a new in-car connectivity system called MZD Connect.
The five-door hatchback is 4,070mm long, 1,730mm wide and 1,450mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,585mm.
It looks bigger than it is, riding on big 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 215/45 R18 tyres.
Power comes from Euro 6-compliant SKYACTIV-D 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission enabling the Hazumi supermini to have CO2 emissions of less than 90 g/km.
It is a good looking compact hatch and Mazda clearly has big plans with it.
The production spec Mazda2 is expected to debut in October at the Paris Motor Show, with first cars arriving at dealers most likely in early 2015.
