Maserati Alfieri is a 2+2 concept, celebrating 100 years of the company, with hints at the brand’s future design language.

The Alfieri is 100% functional prototype and according to Maserati it could well be a door to the future of the Trident Marque.

Maserati says the Alfieri takes inspiration from classic cars such as the 1957 3500 GT and the 1959 5000 GT.

Named after one of its founders Alfieri, the most prominent of the Maserati brothers, the concept was created at the Maserati Centro Stile in Turin by a group of talented young designers, under the direction of Marco Tencone overseen by Lorenzo Ramaciotti.

The Alfieri concept is based on GranTurismo MC Stradale but has a 24cm shorter wheelbase. It is also 29cm shorter than the model it is based on, hinting at a possible new entry level model.

The concept is 4,590mm long, 1,930mm wide, 1,280mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,700mm.

Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 460bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine linked to a six-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential.

The 2+2 cockpit is nicely finished with Aniline leather upholstery, copper highlights and aliminium made parts like steering wheel spokes, gearbox paddles and pedals.
