Infiniti showed us the hot Q50 Eau Rouge concept in January at the 2014 NAIAS Detroit Motor Show with inspiration coming from the Formula One. Most body parts were replaced with new ones and compared to the standard model it is both wider and lower, featuring a muscular and powerful look.

At the time there were no details what’s under the bonnet and Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Limited said:

“If we built this car I would expect it to feature over 500hp and 600 lb-ft of torque and through our various alliance partners we have access to a range of engines featuring this performance capability…”.

Most people, including us though that AMG power is the answer as Infiniti and Mercedes already work together.

The latest version of the Eau Rouge is now on display in Geneva. Visually the same as the Detroit show car, but this time the attention is on the engine.

There is no AMG power. Instead Infiniti has equipped the Eau Rouge with Nissan GT-R’s 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 tuned to 560bhp and 443 lb-ft of torque. That’s 15 extra bhp compared to the new GT-R.

The engine is linked to a new seven-speed transmission, not Nissan’s six-speed in the GT-R.

Power is sent to the road via the GT-R’s all-wheel-drive system, enabling the Q50 Eau Rouge to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds and on to a top speed of 180mph.

The hot Q50 Eau Rouge aka GT-R Saloon has not been confirmed for production and it is purely speculative will we ever see it in production or not.
