Rinspeed XchangE autonomous concept based on Tesla Model S
Rinspeed has revealed their wild XchangE concept, which will make its public debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show.
The XchangE is based on the Tesla Model S with all about showing how the autonomous driving could change the way cars are designed.
The concept features all-new seats reminiscent of the relaxing business-class seats of airlines. The seats have more than twenty possible seating arrangements and the futuristic TRW steering wheel with hands-on recognition, drive-mode-manager display in the rim and transparent multifunction keys with ambiance lighting can simply be “parked” in the middle of the instrument panel.
This is possible by the multi-redundant “steer-by-wire” technology developed by Swabian Company Paravan, similar to what can be found on modern jet aircraft.
Other highlights include a completely new infotainment by Harman, using the manufacturer’s all-new next-generation scalable infotainment platform, which is based on HTML5. The 1.2-meter-wide display strip in the steering-wheel support provides information in wide-screen format. There is also a 32-inch 4K monitor in the rear.
The Plexiglas roof from Evonik Industries features “Radiant” surface coating and shimmers in all colours of the rainbow.
Exterior updates over the standard Model S include a new sportier front bumper, new rear bumper and 20-inch Borbet alloy wheels with glistening “Reflectic” finish.
Rinspeed is known for their wild concepts and this one is no different. Take a look at the videos below to get a better understanding what the Swiss company has done to the Tesla Model S.
