The new Honda Civic Type R has been in development for some time now, but it will be a while before you can buy one.

Before the production model debuts in 2015, Honda will show us the concept version already next month at the Geneva Motor Show. Here is the first design skecth giving us a very good overview what we can expect to see in a couple of weeks.

According to Honda, the design team has dubbed it as a ‘racing car for the road’, with its bold and expressive styling reflecting the strong performance characteristics for which Type R is renowned.

The next Civic Type R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 2.0-litre engine producing at least 280bhp, which is a big improvement compared to the outgoing model, which packs 198bhp.

The concept as you can see has a much more aggressive look than the standard model, featuring vented wheel arch extensions, huge rear wing with taillights, quad exhaust tips and a new diffuser. All this rides on unique black alloy wheels.
