2012 Volkswagen Golf VI R Cabrio Spied Near Nürburgring

Volkswagen will show the new seventh generation Golf next month at the Paris Motor Show. It would make sense that the current generation Golf VI production will be finished soon, but looking at the latest photos from the Nürburgring it looks like Volkswagen could have more plans with the current generation Golf.
In these latest photos from the Nürburgring we have the current sixth generation Volkswagen Golf R Cabrio prototype with no disguise, showing new R badge on the front grill and at the rear. The rear still has the single exhaust pipes, though in production form it will/would get a center-mounted dual exhaust system.
Just like the hard top Golf R, the convertible is powered by a 270bhp 2.0 litre turbocharged engine, enabling it to reach 0-60mph in less than 6.0sec while the top speed is 155mph.
We are not 100% sure is this hot current generation Golf R Cabrio destined for production(perhaps it will debut along the new seventh-gen Golf in Paris) or is it just another prototype, that is used to test different components for the new generation Golf…
