Life size "Airfix" style Aston DBR1 to be auctioned

A 1:1 plastic replica of the 1959 Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR1 is to be auctioned at the Goodwood Revival in September.
The model has been created by Evanta Motor Company in Hertfordshire as a tribute to the drivers of the race winning car, Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori, plus its chief engineer Ted Cutting, who all died earlier this year. Evanta restore Aston Martins and also create bespoke one-off models such as a DB7 rebodied to look like a DB4 GT Zagato.
It will be auctioned by Bonhams and is expected to fetch £25,000. Ant Anstead, boss of Evanta Motors, said: “Aston Martin’s sole Le Mans win of 1959 is a huge part of British motorsport. The loss of both drivers and Ted Cutting within the same year is saddening. We wanted to do a tribute to these three great men and such a beautiful and iconic car. What could be a more fun and fitting tribute than every boy’s dream toy: a lifesize model.”
The car will also come with a cap signed by Salvadori and Shelby (the latter is the man who went on to create the legendary AC Cobra).
