Dick Van Dyke safely escapes burning Jaguar on 101 Freeway in Calabasas
Actor Dick Van Dyke managed to safely escape without injury today when his car caught fire on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Calabasas.
The 87-year-old actor-comedian, star of the classic comedy series “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and films such as “Mary Poppins” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,” was driving his four-door Jaguar east on the freeway near Parkway Calabasas around 2 p.m. when he pulled over because of engine troubles, California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang said.
When flames began appearing, he got out of the vehicle without problem, Tang said.
Van Dyke’s wife, Arlene, posted a photo of the actor’s burned-out car on Twitter and wrote, “He’s fine thank God!!”
Arlene, we all agree.
Thanks to the Jaguar Owner’s Club for this story.
