First Tesla Model S delivered in Europe – bought by Norwegian Frederic Hauge
Tesla delivered the first Model S to company board member Steve Jurvetson in June 2012. Now little over a year later the first Model S has been delivered to a European customer in Norway.
The first officially delivered Model S to a European customer is a Signature Edition and the owner Frederic Hauge has a long history with EVs. He imported his first EV into Norway in 1989.
Mr. Hauge is a little rebel as he continuously ran his original EV through toll booths without paying until local authorities seized his car. Later he bought the car back again and again, until at one point government decided to eliminate tolls on electric vehicles.
“As Europe’s first owner of the Tesla Model S, I am very proud to be a pioneer.”
Model S deliveries will begin in Switzerland and the Netherlands later this month.
Electric Vehicles are very popular in Norway, thanks to strong incentives. Last year over 10,000 EVs were sold in Norway, while in comparison 50,000 EVs were sold in US. Norway has a population of just 5 million and US over 300 million.
