Galpin Ford GTR1 with 1024 horsepower to debut at Pebble Beach next month
Galpin Auto Sports will show its first coach built supercar, the Galpin Ford GTR1, at next month’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California.
The GTR1 is based on the Ford GT as an interpretation of what the GT may have looked and performed like. As a reminder the GT production ended in 2006 and little over 4000 cars were produced.
The GTR1 packs 1024 horsepower and 739 pound feet of torque, from a twin turbocharged 5.4L V8 engine that is at least in theory and mechanically capable of speeds in excess of 225 mph.
The hand crafted all aluminium body was widened five inches(12.7cm) compared to the standard Ford GT. A carbon fibre body will be also available.
The GTR1 rides on 20-inch forged aluminum knock-off wheels fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tyres. There are also six-piston brakes with full carbon rotors, jeweled headlamps and tail lamps and carbon fibre accents.
Full details including technical specs and pricing will be announced next month.
