ex-Chris Evans Mini to star at Carfest sale
A Mini once owned by Chris Evans will be offered at the Carfest sale at Oulton Park in Cheshire on 4 August.
The 1964 Austin Mini Mk1 has a very conservative Estimate of £6000-8000 placed on it by Silverstone Auctions, and sale proceeds wiill be going to BBC Children in Need.
The Mini has been built to Cooper specification and has had considerable work done on it. In 2003, it was restored, and it received a bored-out 998cc engine, a new exhaust system, disc brakes, dry suspension and a straight cut gearbox. The history file’s pretty full too.
Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, said: ‘It’s a lovely little car in its own right, but this 1964 Austin Mini has the added attraction of once being the pride and joy of household name Chris Evans. I’m sure that this celebrity status will add to its appeal, although the lucky new owner will struggle to listen to Chris on his popular breakfast radio show on their way to work as it doesn’t have a radio!’
For more information about any of the lots being offered by Silverstone Auctions at both CarFest weekends, which also includes CarFest South on 25 August at Laverstoke Park Farm, then visit www.silverstoneauctions.com.
