2016 Maybach S600 set to rival Rolls-Royce and Bentley

Maybach name is back after the Daimler’s CEO Dieter Zetsche announced in 2011, that the Maybach-brand will cease to exist in 2012 and the name “Maybach” would not be used anymore.

Well the name is clearly back and is now part of a luxury Mercedes-Maybach S600, that is basically a longer and more luxurious version of the S-Class LWB to rival the traditional British marques like Rolls-Royce and Bentley.

The Mercedes-Maybach is 5453mm long and has a wheelbase of 3365mm, making it 200mm longer than the long wheelbase S-Class.

These numbers also make it bigger than Bentley Mulsanne and a bit smaller than the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Visually it is not much different from the standard long-wheelbase S-class, but if you look in more details you will notice a modified front grille, shorter rear doors, a new third side window and unique wheels that remind the ones from discontinued Maybach 62.

The interior is all about luxury, boasting two executive rear seats with individually adjustable backrests and cushions.

Power comes from a 530bhp 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 with 612 lb-ft of torque.

A less powerful S500 with a 455bhp 4.7-litre V8 bi-turbo will follow later, along with S400 4MATIC.
