2015 Honda Civic Type R will deliver at least 276bhp

Honda has revealed first details of new Civic Type R along with prototype pictures, which was seen testing on the Nürburgring last month.

The new Civic Type R will be powered by a direct injection turbocharged 2.0-litre engine producing least 276bhp.

The goal for the Civic Type R is to become the fastest front wheel drive car around the infamous Nürburgring circuit in Germany. Current record time is 8:7.97, achieved back in 2011 by the Renault Megane RS Trophy.

The development is still in early stages and Honda has confirmed there are further 2 years of development ahead before going on sale in 2015.

“We have recently spent a week at the Nurburgring, carrying out extensive testing and we are on target, and have already set a time approaching the lap record”, said Manabu Nishimae.
