2 Millionth Ford EcoBoost engine built since 2009 launch

Yeseterday Ford Motor Company celebrated a manufacturing milestone for its fuel-saving EcoBoost engines: Two million engines have been produced globally since Ford launched EcoBoost in 2009.
That’s 2 million engines in four years and the production numbers are increasing fast.
Currently more than 100,000 EcoBoost engines are produced every month, and the target is 1.2 million for 2013, up more than 60 percent from 2012 and soon the EcoBoost production is expected to exceed Ford’s global diesel-engine production.
The 2 millionth EcoBoost engine is a 2.0-litre unit, which powers a Ford Escape and rolled off the line at Ford’s Louisville plant in Kentucky.
Ford’s global EcoBoost engine family now includes the 1.0-litre three-cylinder; 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines; and also the powerful 3.5-litre V6.
