Spain’s subsidy program accelerates car sales 17% in November
New-car sales in Spain rose 17 percent to 65,122 in November, thanks in part to the support of a government scrappage scheme, car manufacturers’ association Anfac said today.
November’s figure compared with a 26 percent rise in October. The November increase was the 15th consecutive month of growth.
The government extended the PIVE subsidy scheme that offers price cuts on new low-emission vehicles at the end of the month, Anfac said in a statement.
“The market was showing signs of slowing, but the continuation of the plan announced by the government has helped to encourage buyers,” said David Barrientos, an Anfac spokesman.
From January to November car sales rose 18 percent from a year earlier, with 781,868 vehicles sold, Anfac said.
