Skoda predicts over 1 million cars sales in 2014
Skoda expects to sell over 1 million vehicles this year, the highest in the Czech carmaker’s 119-year history, on surging sales in China and stable business in Europe.
This year’s deliveries through November rose to 955,300 cars, 34,500 units more than in the entire year of 2013, the Volkswagen Group unit said in a statement on Monday.
Skoda has pursued the 1 million-unit sales target as it emerged as the most profitable mass-market car brand for VW. The carmaker plans to add a new SUV to expand its current lineup, which already contains the Yeti compact SUV.
“Following the positive results in November, the milestone of one million vehicles produced and sold in one calendar year is certain,”
Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland said in the statement that the brand is certain to reach 1 million sales this year following November’s positive results.
In November, deliveries increased 10 percent to 90,200, boosted by a 47 percent jump in China, which has been at the center of Skoda’s growth strategy.
